How do I confirm if a fundraising campaign is eligible to receive PAF donations through the ASFCF?
To be eligible to receive donations from a Private Ancillary Fund (PAF) through the Australian Sports Foundation Charitable Fund (ASFCF), a campaign must be assessed and approved by the ASF to ensure it advances a charitable purpose through sport.
Under Australian charity law, the development of sport alone is not considered a charitable purpose. Campaigns must demonstrate alignment with at least one of the following recognised charitable purposes:
- Advancing health
- Advancing education
- Advancing culture
- Promoting reconciliation, respect and tolerance between groups
- Promoting or protecting human rights
- Other similar purposes beneficial to the general public
To confirm if a campaign is eligible to receive PAF donations through the ASFCF, you have two options:
- Ask the campaign organiser whether their fundraising activity has been approved by ASF to receive donations via the ASFCF.
- Contact us and we’ll be happy to verify the campaign’s eligibility for you.
We strongly recommend confirming this before making a distribution, as donations from PAFs cannot be directed to campaigns that have not been approved under the ASFCF.
