Are donations refundable if the project doesn't go ahead?

Donations are non-refundable. This information is included in the Terms & Conditions that donors accept when making their donation on the platform. In circumstances where a project is no longer going ahead, we strongly encourage the club or individual fundraiser to communicate directly to donors the change in fundraising plans and identify an alternate use of the funds. From the ASF's perspective, this is very broad.

For example, if an athlete can no longer attend a competition due to injury, the funds could be used to cover any medical costs involved in rehabilitation. The fundraiser can simply edit the project description to reflect the change in fundraising objectives. Whether the fundraiser decides to change the fundraising objectives and keep the project open to receiving more donations, or to close the project entirely - the use of the donations raised so far simply need to be contributing to the club or individual's development in their sport.
